Onsite Work Related Activity (OWRA) Treatment, delivering solutions to your workplace.

The goal of all our work related activity treatments is to achieve the optimum return to work goal.  Evidence based guidelines make it clear that exercises must be specific  to your requirements.  In many cases the best way to facilitate this is to see you at your workplace performing your normal duties.  Your exercise physiologist can then discuss the barriers present with you (after all no-body knows your job better than you do!) and then we can tailor specific exercises that will transfer to those tasks in a graduated and safe way.

Many modern workplaces also have onsite gymnasiums offering an ideal situation to have your program delivered.

What are the advantages of Onsite Work Related Activity Treatment?

Picture

  • No time lost on travel to other facilities
  • We can assess your work station and tasks to reduce risk of reaggravations while returning to work.
  • Exercises can be made specific to your work.
  • Education for other work staff regarding manual handling and safety
  • More effective recommendations on how you could incorporate stretching and exercise into your work day.

What do I need to do to organize a program at my workplace?

FIT Rehab will do the organizing.  Once we have your claim details and have conducted an assessment all we need is the contact person of your human resources division or your supervisor/manager and we will organize a time that is best for everyone.   Although onsite facilities such as a gym can be of benefit they are not essential in most cases.

What else is included in an Onsite Work Related Activity Treatment program?

Apart from the specific exercise prescription included in all our work related activity treatment protocols, onsite programs can include a variety of other components and strategies including:
  • Ergonomic assessment of your workstation or critical job components.
  • Work-site risk assessment.
  • Manual handling educational talks with your staff.
  • Recommendations on risk reduction and safe practice.
  • Discussion with supervisors and workmates on creating a health workplace.
